Pre-Nyokum festival celebrated at Guwahati by the students community
ITANAGAR, FEB 9 : The student community pursuing higher education in Guwahati city of Assam celebrated Pre-Nyokum festival with great pomp and show and fervour.
The Nyokum festival one of the biggest festival of Nyishi the largest tribes of Arunachal Pradesh is being celebrated with great enthusiasm,.pomp and show and foster traditional outlook and cultural heritage across other tribes and community in state and imbibe for a unity, oneness and communal harmony and brotherhood among all the tribes of state.
The pre-Nyokum festival was celebrated at Pani-Kheti, Guwahati and organised by the students belonging from Nyishi tribes. The students community built Nyigang (alter), the locals were also invited and the Arunachalee students of other tribes also attended in their full traditional attire which shows unity in diversity. Different tribal foods and cuisine were prepared by the students themselves.
The celebration was graced by the former students leader of NERIST (SUN) and PHD Scholar Banta Natung as chief guest and Panikheti police station Incharge Dhanji Haloi as guest of honour and local leaders as special guest respectively.
Natung motivated the student community to remain safe from any pandemic like Corona and help our people. He emphasizes the student to take care of their education and become a good professional and serve our people and state back home. While carrying out studies one should also maintain good conduct and behaviours with the local people and not be involved in bad habits.
It is to mention that the pre-Nyokum is celebrated by the student community in various parts of the country like Gauwahati, Shillong, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangluru, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh. This year it was celebrated at Guwahati on Feb 5. Accordingly the festival will be celebrated across the state and country and finally the Mega Nyokum festival will be celebrated on Feb 26 with fervour.
