Naharlagun, On December 21, Wednesday at 1900 hours ERSS Party led by CT Lindung Tama, CT Likha Akin and CT M.Khokung brought three boys to PS NLG who were suspected to have consumed narcotics. The boys were interrogated and upon interrogation they revealed to have brought the drugs from one Sagar Das, a resident of B-Sector, Nlg. Accordingly Naharlagun Police team under the direct supervision of SDPO NLG Shri Abhimanyu Poswal, IPS comprising of Inspr Khiksi Yangfo, Inspr Takhe Tasso, SI Sushant Saurabh Jha, Ct Kanto Samyor, Ct Sandeep Yadav, L/CT Yapi Pale swung into action and arrested the alleged drug peddler Sagar Das.
After the arrest of Sagar Das he was revealed to have purchased the drugs from Sofirudin Ali and Asmot Ali, permanent residents of Laluk Assam but temporarily residing at Helipad Colony. Both of them were arrested by the police team and from their possession narcotics and cash was seized they further revealed to have purchased the drugs from one police personnel. The police personnel was later identified as CT Jumkar Lingu of 3rd IRBn and from his possession also narcotics and cash was recovered and seized. A total of 9.35 GM’s suspect Heroin and Rs 22900 cash was seized during this operation.
Police interrogation till now has revealed that Ct Jumkar Lingu was the kingpin behind the entire operation and he using the advantage of uniform procured drugs from Assam and through Sofirudin Ali, Asmot Ali and Sagar Das sold it to young drug abuse victims of the area.
SDPO Naharlagun Abhimanyu Poswal, IPS while stating that the team had done good work also exhorted that much work is to be done and no peddler would be allowed to function in the township.
SP Capital Jimmy Chiram while congratulating the team for their efforts has assured no person irrespective of their position and stature would be spared if they are involved in drug trade. He also requested denizens to come forward with information to the local police if they find anybody involved in selling or consuming drugs in the locality to ensure a drug free Arunachal.
